Charedi MK’s Bill: No Toll When Traffic is Backed Up

MaklevMK (Yahadut Hatorah) Uri Maklev understands that drivers opting to use Highway 6 are willing to pay toll because they know they will reach their destination faster by using the toll road. Therefore, he feels if traffic on the toll highway is backed up, motorists should not be required to pay the toll, and he has presented a bill to this effect.

He feels a minimum speed must be set and if traffic is traveling slower than that speed, the ride should be free because “A driver is not receiving the service for which he is expected to pay” Maklev explains. He also feels that public vehicles should be exempt from paying toll on the road. Such a move would encourage buses to use the highway and this would curtail travel time for passengers he feels.
