This article is flawed for 2 reasons:-
1) The actual date is 3 days later, on Shabbos Teveth 7th.
2) As a Devout Frum Jew [otherwise why would I be studying Daf Yomi?], I am not dictated by the catholic calendar which means tripe to me, and on the Jewish calendar, Teveth 7th, was more than 2 weeks ago already.
147 you are 100% right .
@147, you are missing the point of the article. This is the Agudah wanting to make a big splash in the biggest event space available, which is probably only available on Jan 1st as the goyim are not having events in Metlife on new years day. This is the only reason I can think of that they are scheduling an event in an outdoor venue in January in New Jersey. Their “siyum” is just a glorified agudah dinner with the speeches and all, a real Siyum is a seudah as brought down in many places. At the last 3 siyum hashas that I attended, there was no seudah, just speech after speech.
