To my dear brothers,
Today begins the last week that our holy organization, as a whole, does not bill. No matter what your personal opinion is, it was always a part of us, when a patient asked if we need their insurance card for billing, we were always able to turn to them and respond with a smile, “Hatzolah does not bill”. This comes to an end in just a few more days, with just 2 divisions left to start billing.
The fact of the matter is, (whether you are for or against billing) our organization will change, come January, 1, 2019. Our Hatzolah was always a shining star of what a true Volunteer organization really is. Of course we don’t really think that anyone in our organization would do something wrong with the incoming money on purpose. It’s just a simple fact, we were all taught, from a young age on, that there is no such a thing as “free money”. Money always comes with something attached to it. When it comes to money, how can someone in charge make a clear and conscious decision about privatizing, RMA ect. when if he pushes for a transport, money will go into an account that he has access to!
Of course easy money is exciting to receive, but let’s all remember that even easy money comes with an attachment. What that attachment means to us, remains to be seen!!
For those of you that belong to the Q or RL area, go out this last week, with a total and clear conscious!! Go help a fellow neighbor and smile with pride as you tell them that our Hatzolah won’t bill them or their insurance for this transport!

December 26, 2018 3:19 pm at 3:19 pm #1652395midwesternerParticipantIt’s not free money. It is money well earned. And the money will need to come in anyway, just a question of further taxing community resources, or finding some other untapped source that wont deplete pockets of baalei batim. Will relieve some fundraising stress on the community and free up some funds to be used for other charitable needs.

December 26, 2018 4:17 pm at 4:17 pm #1652463emanParticipantI needed a Hatzolah transport 15 months ago(BH I am now OK). I was more than happy to have the insurance send them a check.
December 26, 2018 5:47 pm at 5:47 pm #16524691ParticipantThose halls they get to use off charity funds
December 26, 2018 6:32 pm at 6:32 pm #1652568Bshtei_EinayimParticipantSorry, my insurance premiums are over 23,000 dollars. No reason Hatzalah should not bill against that. In any case people controlled the accounts.
December 26, 2018 7:23 pm at 7:23 pm #1652584funnyboneParticipantOk. So let’s change Hatzolah. People will be able to get the same great volunteer service w/o fundraisers. Insurance will pay for it.
I think twice before calling Hatzolah because i dont want to bother these tzaddikim. I only wish they could be paid per call!December 26, 2018 7:23 pm at 7:23 pm #1652586commentsParticipantDoes this mean Hatzolah will not take you if you have no insurance? Or will they bill the patient?
December 26, 2018 7:36 pm at 7:36 pm #1652587commentsParticipantAnd if Hatzolah will be getting paid, I hope its EMTs will as well.
December 26, 2018 7:46 pm at 7:46 pm #1652617Miriam377ParticipantComments@ 7:23 PM.
Being a volunteer organization you won’t get a bill from them and they will transport without insurance. The volunteers themselves don’t get paid and the money goes for fuel supplies and materials.December 26, 2018 7:46 pm at 7:46 pm #1652613HaimyParticipantFirst work on perfecting your Davening, your learning, your bein adom lechaveiro, & then we’ll aim for a pure hatzolah that doesn’t bill insurance for services it rightfully can bill for. Your mitzva is as chashuv whether insurance is billed or not. Let’s stop being OCD about this subject.
December 26, 2018 7:56 pm at 7:56 pm #1652633funnyboneParticipantHaimy: +1!
December 26, 2018 11:07 pm at 11:07 pm #1652706Neville ChaimBerlinParticipant“Money always comes with something attached to it.”
All the more reason to decrease your dependence on individual donors.
