Efforts to cleanup the eastern capital continue, as the East Jerusalem Development company, funded by the Jerusalem Affairs Ministry headed by Minister Ze’ev Elkin, working in tandem with Jerusalem City Hall, has begun distribution of garbage collection bins in the areas of Silwan and Issawiya. This is just the beginning of an effort that will continue for a number of weeks, as hundreds of containers will be placed throughout East Jerusalem areas.
It is pointed out that in addition to assisting residents of those areas, there are also tourist attractions and hotels benefiting from the new containers along with area businesses. The placement of the 1100-liter units is part of an overall effort to cleanup area areas of the capital that have been neglected for many years towards significantly improving the lifestyle of residents and the city as a whole.
