The Agudas Yisrael National Council will meet on Sunday at Agudas Yisrael in Bnei Brak to discuss a number of key issues on the agenda: “The movement’s representatives in the government, the Knesset and the local authorities as well as Kedushas Shabbos and Chilul Shabbos by government companies.
According to the invitation sent out to council members, the draft law is also on the agenda. “The issue of continuing the determination to establish the status of the talmidei yeshivos and continuing their uninterrupted limud will be discussed along with the matter of ‘chinuch tahor’, preservation of pure education for boys and girls,” the invitation states.
In addition, “in view of the recent elections for municipalities and local authorities, a period of time will be devoted to the summations and to a road map for Agudas Yisrael branches for continued action.”
The meeting was convened by the chairman of Agudas Yisrael, Rabbi Yosef Kuperberg and the Secretary-General of Agudas Yisrael, Deputy Mayor of Bnei Brak, Chanoch Zeibert.
The directorate body will be briefed by representatives of the national and local levels regarding issues on the agenda and require attention and /or clarification.
It remains to be seen if Agudas Yisrael will topple the coalition government as it threatened to do among reports that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is working to pass a new draft bill into law by the January 15, 2019 deadline set forth by the High Court of Justice, despite opposition by Agudah.
