Military police have launched an investigation into the shooting death of a Palestinian resident of East Jerusalem over the weekend by soldiers from Netzach Yehuda, Nachal Chareidi, Yossi Schlesinger reports on Sunday, 15 Teves, in Yediot Achronot.
The battalion is in the midst of a difficult period, having lost two combatants in the Givat Assaf terror attack, and another, Netanel Felber, fighting for his life in a hospital. In addition, there was the recent clash between Nachal Chareidi soldiers and border police which led to some soldiers being detained by the border police. That followed a terrorist attack when a lone terrorist attacked a soldier near Beit El, wounding him seriously.
Soldiers who were at the junction leading to the PA (Palestinian Authority) village of Bitin after the shooting incident noticed a vehicle approaching them. They signaled the driver to stop, but they said he ignored it.
The soldiers said that they fired in the air, but the driver continued driving and fled. They reported the incident to a force stationed at the “Focus” Checkpoint, where they were soldiers from Nachal Chareidi.
The soldiers signaled, according to the driver, to stop, but after driving on and after firing warning shots into the air, one of the soldiers fired a close shot at the wheels of the vehicle, when according to the soldier, the vehicle was driving through the checkpoint.
Following the shooting, one of the passengers was killed – a Palestinian from East Jerusalem and another passenger was injured. According to the report in Yediot, no weapons were found in the vehicle, and the driver did not plan to run over the force. Now, as stated, military police opened an investigation into the case.
The IDF Spokesperson stated: “Following the recent terror attack at the Ofra Junction, IDF forces were required to heighten their vigilance. A vehicle arriving aroused the suspicion of soldiers standing at the intersection leading to the village of Bitin. The force tried to stop the vehicle, even by firing into the air – but the vehicle continued. The vehicle then reached the Focus Checkpoint, where the force identified the vehicle and tried to stop it by firing into the air. The vehicle did not stop, and the force fired at him. The driver was killed, and another passenger was injured. A Military Police investigation was opened.”

regarding these rag heads, shoot first and ask questions later is the safest\best policy
Why would someone serve in a military where your own government could be your greatest enemy?
Let me try and understand. The PA want to destroy us and actively try. They kill our soldiers and civilians including children as they sleep, and set fire to our lands and homes, but the Israeli government and the army comes down far more strongly on our soldiers doing their job or on residents who fight back. What is wrong with this picture?
No, I just don’t understand.
Let them go in the spirit of the holidays.
That’s why the chareidim shouldn’t go to the army!
DavidtheKanoi, That’s why no one should go into the army. What does IDF stand for? “I don’ fight.” The army cares more about the life of a goy, then its own Jewish soldiers. The army and Supreme Court are run by leftists who run this country.
