B’chasdei Hashem, the heavy rains have brought additional water to the Kinneret, adding 1.5 centimeters (0.59 inches) according to Kinneret Authority officials. However, celebration would be premature as the Kinneret remains 1.58 meters (1.72 yards) below the Red Line, and a mere 29 centimeters (11.4 inches) above the Black Line. Should the level drop below the Black Line, the water would become salinated and the damage would be permanent.
For the ski enthusiasts, officials on Mount Hermon on top of the Golan Heights report 10 centimeters (3.93 inches) of snow accumulation, which it insufficient for skiing, but it brings some winter hope and it permits visitors to enter and enjoy the white blanket and possible have a snow ball fight, which for most Israelis, is a novelty.
In the nation’s center, there was significant rainfall in some cities. For example, a police station in Rehovot was so badly flooded that it had to be closed.
