A former NYPD officer will spend nearly four years in prison for his role in transporting M-16 rifles and handguns between New York and New Jersey in what turned out to be a sting operation.

Ali Oklu was sentenced Thursday by federal Judge William Pauley to three years and 10 months in prison.

Oklu had been accused of transporting weapons and stolen goods in 2010 and 2011 while he was an officer.

Another officer who recruited others in his Brooklyn precinct to aid the scheme has already been sentenced to about five years in prison.

The government says Oklu was paid $35,000 for his part.

The 36-year-old Sunnyside, Queens resident had pleaded guilty to transporting weapons as well as stolen cigarettes and slot machines.
