Achieve the dream despite the limitations – and become a policeman for one day! The Israel Police’s ‘Fulfill a Wish’ vehicle surprised Tal on Tuesday, a student at the Aleh Center in Jerusalem, and took him to a special police experience.
For a long time, the Jerusalem District Police have been personally accompanying the students of the Aleh Center in Jerusalem, which deals with people with developmental disabilities. Throughout the period, the police and the students developed friendly relations, most of which were expressed in joint activities held at the center.
Tal’s dream, which later became known to police officers, was to serve as a policeman for one day, to serve at the Jerusalem police station and to deal with the various professions of the station’s policemen.
The policemen, who did not remain indifferent, immediately mobilized the Israel Police’s Fulfill a Wish van and arrived at the Aleh center in Jerusalem. They dressed Tal in the new police uniform and immediately went on a mission in a patrol car, including the use of the emergency lights, siren, communications system and computer touch screen.
Upon his arrival at the police station, he worked with the investigators of the forensics lab and helped them decipher the scene of an offense. He accompanied a police dog to locate dangerous drugs and assisted the police bomb squad in handling a suspicious object.
At the end of his training, he was promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent and was officially awarded the pins of the Jerusalem District.
CEO of Aleh Jerusalem Shlomit Grayevsky: “This brings tremendous excitement! Tal, a young man with disabilities, whose routine is a daily struggle for progress, rehabilitation, improvement in quality of life and achievement, has a special day and a completely different experience. Surrounded by a team of loving policemen who gave him a chance to fulfill a dream.
These are the wonderful police officers from the Lev Capital Station in Jerusalem, who for the past five years have been tying up their routine with the routine of our lives. Even in spite of difficult security situations, they always have a time and a place in their hearts for the children and young people of Aleh Jerusalem.”
