(UPDATES BELOW) 7:05PM EST: A second alarm response has been requested for a large fire at the Har Nof Bungalow Colony on Route 42 (near Fraser Road) in Kiamesha Lake (Catskills). Monticello Fire Department units arriving on the scene report a fully involved structure, and are requesting mutual aid assistance to respond forthwith.
7:29PM EST: Mutual aid is being requested to the scene from Rock Hill, Fallsburg, Hurleyville, Forestburg. This fire is burning multiple bungalows at the location at this time.
7:49PM EST: FD reports that they now have at least 6 bungalows fully involved.
9:00PM EST: The Undersheriff in Sullivan County – Eric J. Chaboty – now states that the structure involved was directly behind Har Nof bungalows, but not part of the complex. The FD assumed that the structures were burning due to the fact that there were flaming embers burning on the rooftops of six bungalows at Har Nof. The Undersherrif states that the FD has successfully saved the bungalows from burning.

Chasdei Hashem!
Home belonged to the G. family.
Thanks for the local VOLUNTEER FF’s for saving the bungalows.
Hello to all I just want to update everybody about the fire that we had on the property that adjoins HAR-NOF. The house has burnt down to the ground B”H with out burning any bungalows. The embers were blowing thru out the colony but with quick thinking the fire fighters had hosed down the bungalow roofs to avoid any damage. I repeat there is no damage at this time to any bungalows.

Thanks Mr. Caretaker Asher H for letting us know the good news . Baruch Hashem you are fine, too.
Thank you Yeshiva World for keeping us up to date on this issue! Thank you Mr. Caretake Asher H! Thank you fire department! Chasdei Hashem – many bungalows could have gone down quickly, and such a loss to people who would have had no access to this information! I happen to have a bungalow across the street and I was getting worried!
Dear rebshalom I just wanted fill you in on what happened Sunday night that destroyed a large vacant building behind the Har-Nof bungalow colony since you seem to be so concerned.
Firefighters had responded to the bungalow colony. Around 7 pm thinking it was in the colony. When they determent it was actually 25 feet behind the colony. they finely found the building after running in circles. They found the building fully enveloped in flames. There were glowing embers flying all over as it was windy so one brave fire fighter had sprayed down the roofs so as not to let the fire spread to any other buildings The building had been vacant for the last number years or so. (Abandon hopefully you under stand y I did not bother to comment on the house)
The fire was particularly hard to reach because there was no physical address and no clear access to the building, forcing firefighters to drag almost 2000 feet of water lines through the woods. The fire was knocked down by 10:30 p.m. nobody was hurt. We had Firefighters responded from Monticello, Fallsburg, Hurleyville, Rock Hill, Forestburgh, Liberty and Wurtsboro . There where probably close to 100 fire fighters working at the scene
