Over 5,000 Register For NYC Bike Sharing Program

bikenycNew York City’s Department of Transportation says more than 5,000 people have registered this week for a bike-sharing program that launches in May.

The first 5,000 people to sign up are considered “founding members.” But annual memberships are still available.

Members can use one of 6,000 bikes from 330 stations in Midtown, Lower Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn, then return it to a different station. Annual memberships cost $95. Riders can use bikes for up to 45 minutes without an extra charge.
