Residents of Chomesh in Shomron remained tenacious in the face of two attempted evictions, on Shabbos and shortly thereafter. Security forces were sent to remove the residents of the northern Shomron community, which was destroyed in Ariel Sharon’s 2005 Disengagement Plan along with SaNur and Gush Katif.

Committed activists have been maintaining an presence in Chomesh for some eight months, involved in a constant cat-and-mouse game with security forces, stating unequivocally that they will not deterred and “Chomesh will be rebuilt”. Despite repeated evictions, arrests, physical abuse and harassment, they continue returning, determined to rebuild the community.
