26 years ago, a young newlywed, Mrs. Yehudis Miriam Schisha recognized the need for a Kallah Gown Gemach, when a needy Kallah asked where she could borrow a Kallah Gown.  Yehudis Miriam made every effort to help her friend, asking all her friends and phoning organizations, but was shocked to learn just how difficult it was.  

Disappointed, she said  “I can’t believe there are no Kallah Gown Gemachs in town?!”  

That week Yehudis Miriam A’H was suddenly Niftar, leaving her own incredible legacy.

To her Shloshim, her family followed her directive by establishing the Zichron Yehudis Miriam  Bridal Gemach (Ehrenfeld’s), offering the wider community up- to -date brand new and gently used bridal gowns, and all bridal accessories. All with care and dignity.

Today,  TENS OF THOUSANDS of smiling Kallahs from all over the world can show you wedding photos beautifully  ”gowned” by Ehrenfelds.

Fast forward fifteen years, and the Gemach heard the cry of demand for a similar Gown Gemach for the family of the Chassan/Kallah.  There were no options outside of spending hundreds, if not thousands of dollars for family gowns.  So a Machateiniste, Adult /Teen Sister, and Childrens Gown Gemachs were all duly added to its core operation. The same bywords of “care and dignity”  and stellar service all around.

It all translates into thousands of dollars of saved costs while marrying off a child.  Multiplied by tens of thousands!  Without feeling compromised at all!

But still the Gemach is not perfect!

What is the Gemach to do when every week, tens of families, some from long distances,  come to choose gowns, and it must turn so many of them away because there is no space?   Often they will choose to wait outside in the freezing cold or in the rain until the Gemach is able to serve them.

SO WE ARE APPEALING TO YOU — GENEROUS HEARTS OF OUR COMMUNITY.  HELP US RESTORE THE DIGNITY WITH WHICH WE’VE SERVED OUR COMMUNITY FOR SO MANY YEARS.  AND WE COULD HELP SO MANY MORE FAMILIES, IF WE COULD ONLY FINALLY HOUSE THE GEMACHS IN A MORE SPACIOUS FACILITY.
