MK (Yahadut Hatorah) Uri Maklev accuses the Likud of compelling early elections over its insistence on passing the draft law in its current form, unwilling to amend it to a more chareidi-friendly version.
He is referring to recent statements from Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to the heads of the chareidi factions, that he does not plan to amend the draft law and he is preparing the current bill for its first vote in Knesset.
Maklev commented on Sunday that without a doubt, the chareidi parties will vote against the bill and he feels that since there is little chance of the coalition of 61 lasting, Mr. Netanyahu is using the draft bill as an excuse to compel early elections. He admits that at present, bnei Torah are in a quandary, lacking any defined status.
