Former President Yitzchak Navon, 86, was somewhat surprised when he arrived home at his Jabotinsky Street residence in Jerusalem on Monday night. He found and heard a stranger asleep on his living room couch. According to the report, the sleepy burglar was snoring away when they entered the home.
The driver of Israel’s fifth president summoned police, who arrived expeditiously and slapped handcuffs on burglar, then waking him up. It appears the thief thought the occupant of the home would be out for the night, deciding to take a nap before getting to work.
The thief told police he did not plan to steal anything, insisting he simply made a mistake and entered the wrong home.
