The Bridge of Strings, which appears to be a 21st century white elephant, is once again making headlines – this time with reports of cracks in the welds at the base of the structure.

Already well over budget, the bridge opening will now be delayed again according to reports, adding additional delays to the already overpriced ailing light rail system, a plan that was the flagship of Ehud Olmert when serving as Jerusalem mayor.

Engineers are already assessing the situation, seeking to estimate repair time and costs, but what appears certain is there will be additional delays and the bridge’s price tag will increase once again.
