New York City police say officers have shot and killed a man who lunged at them with a knife.
The fatal shooting took place Friday night in Brooklyn. Officers responded to a report of a dispute between two roommates and found a 53-year-old man with a stab wound to his shoulder.
Police say he directed officers outside to his 28-year-old roommate. They say officers approached the man and ordered him to drop the knife, but he lunged at them with the blade.
Police say that’s when officers shot him. He died at a hospital. Police didn’t immediately know how many shots were fired.
The wounded roommate was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.
It was not clear why the roommates were fighting.
