Israel Police officials in the Negev district announce they have completed their investigation into the fatal accident on Route 90, which claimed the lives of the entire Atar family, the parents and their six children. The entire family of 8 R”L was burned alive in the head-on crash. The driver of the other vehicle, 52-year-old Loren Ankari of Givon, his wife and their child, survived the crash, escaping serious injuries. He was taken into custody, later released with restrictions, including the suspension of his driver’s license.
The course of the investigation required the road accident examiners in the Negev region to interview many witnesses as well as a field of vision tests at the site of the accident, and without the driver. The accident examiners were also compelled to consider the driver operating a vehicle under the influence of a dangerous drug. The fact the Atar family vehicle exploded into flames was probed by experts who deal with vehicle fires and combustion.
On Monday, 4 Kislev, at the end of the investigation, a criminal indictment was filed against Ankari, with details of that indictment to be announced by officials in the State Attorney’s Office at a later date.
