It was shock for mispallalim arriving at the Sukkat Shaul Shul in the central Israel City of Ramat HaSharon on erev Shabbos, as a severed pig’s head was discovered placed atop of the fence at the entrance to the shul.

“Shame on whoever did this,” the shul’s manager, Eli Almani said. “I didn’t believe it at first, but when I saw it with my own eyes I realized it wasn’t a picture or doll but a real pig head, with blood dripping off it.”

Police were notified, and an investigation has been launched.

Tensions have run high between Chareidi and secular residents in the city, especially during the run-up to municipal elections. A runoff in the mayoral election is scheduled for Tuesday.

The incident was condemned across the political and religious spectrum.

  1. kluger: is that your recommendation for anti-Semitic acts perpetrated in the U.S. or elsewhere? Ignore it and try to pretend it never happened?

This is EY. This was as per the article a probable political issue. It’s not anti semitism. Ignore it and they’ll see that they didn’t accomplish anything.

  3. As others have said, totally inappropriate way for some misguided secular Israeli to express disagreement with the frum tzibur. It would be like the frum playing Wayne Newton’s Greatest Hits from the speakers used to blare the sirens eruv Shabbos.
