Israel’s public sector social workers are participating in a strike action in response to the alarming increase against social workers around the country. Last week, five attacks and/or acts of violence against social workers were reported, including an attack with a hammer in Beit Dagan.
Inbal Hermoni, chairman of the Social Workers’ Union: “We demand that Minister of Welfare Chaim Katz and Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon find an immediate solution to the violence against male and female workers throughout the country. There will be no more public reception in the social services departments until an immediate solution is found for the workers’ security, and the handling of poor working conditions and lack of standardization.
“Our blood is not hefker, and it is the duty of the state, which has sent us to protect and care for the population, to protect us, and if it is unable to do so, we will no longer accept the patients. We will not send the social workers to their deaths – we demand that the welfare and finance ministers intervene in the emergency situation.”

Who is attacking them?
who is attacking them? their own clients! social workers deal with unstable people all the time in municipal work and unfortunately these ppl sometimes get out of control and there is no excuse for not having protection in place. And by the way, it would be nice if your image had anything to do with the topic. Social workers are not post office workers!
What does the postal service have to do with Israel’s social workers?
many if not most of the social workers are dangerous to your soul. even if they are well meaning.
They are being attacked by people that feel the social workers have hurt them, by distancing their children and the likes. “Revacha” social workers are underpaid kids.
I’m obviously not justifying violence, but for those that want to know the source of rage – it’s fairly simple.
It would be fine if they remain on strike forever,
