Recently, as part of the project DRIVER+ which deals with innovation in crisis management, a trial which aimed to test new solutions took place in the Civil Protection Training Center in Valabre in France. The project DRIVER+ is funded by the European Union under the 7th Framework program – FP7.

During the trial that took place in the simulation center near Marseille in France, MDA’s innovative Command and Control System saw its first inclusion in a European activity. The simulation resembled a forest fire scenario with victims suffering burns and other injuries, that run 400 meters into the forest from a camping site.

During the trial, the Command and Control System (which was developed by Magen David Adom) was used and allowed French firefighters who were trained a day before by MDA personnel, to receive all the critical information in order to handle the response for the injured of the scenario in an optimal manner thus saving lives more efficiently.

The events of the trial happened strictly inside a simulated environment, which was created by a simulator that worked at the same time with several solutions, among them MDA’s system special functionalities which provided the location of the distress call, real-time pictures from the scene, management of the emergency vehicles that are part of the response and the use of unique multi-casualty modules which were specifically designed for events of this kind.

MDA Director General, Eli Bin: “the co-operation between MDA and the European Union project, as demonstrated in this trial constitutes a new meaning to MDA’s , Israel’s national EMS organization, technological capabilities which are considered most prominent in its field. The power of our technologies allows to continue developing means to improve response times, collecting critical information from the field and additional actions that are all aimed towards saving lives in Israel and abroad as needed.”
