Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan on Wednesday, 29 Marcheshvan, announced to the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Appointments for Senior Positions, Justice Eliezer Goldberg, his intention to recommend the appointment of Deputy Commissioner (Res.) Moshe (Chico) Edri as next Israel Police Commissioner.
The said position is one of the senior positions which, according to a government decision, require the acceptance of the committee regarding the integrity of the appointment.
Edri served in command positions in the Israel Police from 1990 until his retirement from the force in 2018. His last assignment was head of the Tel Aviv district and before that, he commanded the Jerusalem district from 2014-2016.
Edri, 51, is married and has three children. He holds a BA in Land of Israel and History of the Jewish People studies from Bar-Ilan University and a MA in Middle East studies from Tel Aviv University.
The appointment made by Erdan is backed by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
