With the Passover season comes big bills for an Orthodox Jewish family. Between turning over their houses and buying groceries, thousands of dollars are spent. It’s no surprise that most families, regardless of their wealth, look for ways to save money during this time of year.
This is where WatsOnSale comes in. WatsOnSale is the self described “Place for kosher supermarket specials.” They list hundreds of kosher grocery stores and kosher supermarket specials from around the globe. These specials are consistently updated every week for Jewish comminutes from Flatbush, to Monsey, to Canada, and many more places.
For families trying to save money, WatsOnSale is a lifesaver. Just ask Chana (last name withheld), an orthodox Jewish mother of 6 children, living in Lawrence, NY. The family lives paycheck to paycheck, even with her husband making a modest living. “WatsOnSale has been a lifesaver for me. I used to collect many of the papers and whatnot, and still I was missing some of the specials around me. Now I just go online and it’s all there.”
WatsOnSale first got started during the recession in 2008 by Aryeh Simkin, manager of a major kosher supermarket in New York. He noticed a growing demand for easily accessible kosher supermarket specials so he created WatsOnSale as a free service for the community. It started off with just a few supermarkets but quickly ballooned to more as the word got out and demand increased.
Fast forward to 2013, and WatsOnSale is now a thriving website. Just look at many of the supermarket pages where you can see spirited conversations in the comments. Chaim Sash, administrator for WatsOnSale, revealed that in the weeks before Passover, WatsOnSale gets over 20,000 pageviews a day. Chaim also said that WatsOnSale is working hard on making the site even better. Today, they are launching brand new supermarket profiles that can be seen first on Mountain Fruit’s page, and soon on other supermarket pages. In the coming year they will be adding a shopping list tool, a mobile application, kosher recipes, and a listing for almost every kosher supermarket in the world.
Whether you want to save money on groceries or keep in touch with your favorite kosher food stores, WatsOnSale is there for you. Go check them out.

Been a big fan of them for a while. Glad to see they’re growing.
I check the site every Wednesday morning, but would appreciate the new sales being posted early Tuesday evening. It is a great benefit to the community.
This is not so simple…why isnt it lashon hora? It is coming to take business from one store to the other with rachmonus on the family with 6 kids…grocery store owners also have 6 kids!
To “notsosimple”:
So I guess, in your world, any advertising at any time should be “Lashon Hara”.
We have a retail store. There is a lot of competition. Baruch Hashem the Aibershter provides for everyone. We have specials, they have specials. We advertise, they advertise. This is ultimately great for the consumer. (Tell you a little secret. We are located in Williamsburg. We all know the competiton in our area. We are freindly with each other & we all help each other all the time, B”H.)

All the stores on our website are willing participants. They send us the specials and want to be on the website.
