Rav Chaim Navon Attacked By Arab Rock Throwing On Route 443

rcFor Modi’in’s Rabbi Chaim Navon, the outcome was less horrific than the Biton family after his vehicle was attacked by Arabs hurling rocks. In his description of the incident, Rabbi Navon writes on his Facebook page that he was traveling on Highway 443, the Jerusalem-Modi’in Highway on motzei Shabbos when the rocks began flying. He added “Someone who doesn’t know me tried to kill me but בחסדי ה׳, הפח נשבר ואנחנו נמלטנו.”

The rav is a known personality so his near-death attack made the news, but dozens of these attacks occur daily and few are aware of the reoccurring potentially fatal attacks. In the case of the Biton family, the situation is far more serious and 3-year-old Adele is fighting for her life and other family members are in moderate-to-serious condition.

Rabbi Navon explains the attack occurred at 20:00 when many motorists are on the highway and the large rocks thrown at his vehicle are witness to the intentions of the attackers.

In this case, ten arrests have been made by the IDF and while this may serve the wheels of justice, it does little towards improving the situation for the Bitons, whose lives have come to a sudden abrupt halt. The situation throughout Yehuda and Shomron continues to deteriorate during recent weeks, with the ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) reporting a sharp increase in firebomb and rock attacks. Perhaps with the appointment of Moshe Ya’alon as the new defense minister the situation will change for the better and the daily potentially life-threatening attacks will be halted.

  1. “perhaps with the appointment of yaalon things will get better”??????? Perhaps with enough tefillos, Hakadosh Baruch Hu will make things better. MA Hakesher, yaalon or anyone to making things better?

  2. Thank you #1 Geula. I think the YWN Israel Desk has already become tainted by the Bennet effect and whilst one has a kippa on one’s head, one may remove HKBH from any aspect of ones life….

Why does a rabbi have a Facebook page?

Um . . . maybe because he’s they type of Rabbi whose audience wishes to read his Torah there?

  4. Route 443 is a very long road. I travel that road daily and bh all seems well. At which point do these attacks occur? Is there a map of where the attacks have occurred?
The open roads on the other side of the check point seems to me safer then closer to yeru after the check point between the wall barrier. I often come across PA climbing the walls and getting into standby cars by night and day.
If someone knows the danger spots please let know.

  5. Git Meshige – because he isn’t hiding, afraid of his own yetzer Hora, but embracing the gifts that Hashem bestows, new powerful ways to communicate Torah to the Jewish world. Fear of modernity really means weakness in ones Hashkafa, not problems with the technology!
