According to a Gallup poll released over the weekend, 64% of American view Israel in a favorable light as opposed to only 12% for the PA (Palestinian Authority). The support for Israel is the highest since 1991, the poll reports, citing this was during the First Gulf War.
Support for Israel is higher among republicans (78%) as compared to democrats (55%).
In a related matter, President Barak Obama over the weekend applauded the forming of a new coalition in Israel, adding he looks forward to working with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and his new administration. The president last week granted an interview with Israel’s Channel Two New’s Yonit Levy, in which he repeatedly referred to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu as “Bibi”, signaling an effort to improve the strained relations that existed between the White House and Israel during the president’s first term in office.
