In his motzei Shabbos shiur, Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef Shlita sent a message to bnei yeshiva, talmidim who are now facing a new reality, the share the burden draft law. ashreinu pe’er hador shelanu……
What about Rav Ovadias previous speach about Talmidim needing to move out of Israel to continue their studies? This coalition agreement won’t let anyone leave without posting bond. Refusal to return will forfeit bond. Does he still advocate leaving? Ki mitzion Tatzay Torah?
#2- For the sake of kavod hatorah, please be so kind and let us know when Rav Ovadia ever said such a thing.
We are all waiting.
jrican2, you are a liar, and being mevazah one of the most brilliant torah minds since the vilna goan.
chacham ovadia yosef never said such a thing in his life.
you are an evil, evil, wicked person, who should probably repent, and ask mechillah publicly.
and they will work together with the other opposition parties to topple the government as quickly as possible. Shas shall do a very spirited job to obtain this goal, and IY’H will succeed speedily, especially as it is now common knowledge that Bayit haYehudi shall be paying back very dearly at the next election, for having betrayed our Frum Zionist Siblings.

Before I smash you for your chutzpa,
1)please inform us when “maran” said such a thing
(i had heard that rav dovid soloveichik said that if they draft the yeshiva students they should all go to chutz la’aretz, but i dont take responsibility for that since i cant garantee its validity)
2) Explain why the two are a contradiction, one is a long term, last straw solution, while one is a bracha for the time being
and finally DONT MESS WITH MY RABBI!!!
I am publicly being mocheh your bizayon chachamim and questioning of their actions and words.
You should be ashamed of yourself.
“Kol ha’meharher achar rabo,….”

“אם יגייסו את בני הישיבות נצטרך לעזוב את ארץ ישראל”, כך אומר מרן פוסק הדור רבי עובדיה יוסף נשיא מועצת חכמי התורה בהתייחסו לסכנת הגיוס המרחפת מעל ראשם של בני הישיבות.
“If they conscript yeshiva students, we’ll be forced to leave Eretz Yisrael,” said Maran Posek HaDor Rav Ovadiah Yosef, chairman of the Moetzet Hakhmei HaTorah, in response to the danger of conscription hovering over the heads of the yeshiva students.
If this is your rabbi, then start learning his middos instead of insulting and cursing another jew…if you are his Talmid then portray a decent image please….no harsh words are needed to express your opinion…or is that the way Shas reacts in all cases…..
Of course $ha$ wants to topple the government – they’re only interested in a government that will give them more money.
His speech on Jan 6 was widely reported(as you’d know if you’d simply googled it instead of pouring scorn on jrican2)- “The Torah is in danger,” said Rav Yosef. “How will they be Torah scholars if they are drafted into the army? We will God forbid have to leave the Land, to travel to outside the Land of Israel, in order to ensure that the yeshiva students will be free to study. We are in great trouble and grave danger. This is the time for each and every person to commit to vote for the parties that support the Torah.“There is a terrible edict hanging over our heads, God forbid,” Rav Yosef continued. “But we would have no choice but to leave the Land of Israel in order to ensure that the yeshiva students are not forced to fight. ”
Everyone is standing up, and properly so, for Rav Ovadia’s Kavod. It would have been nice if people would relate to ALL Gedolim with such Kavod – including Gedolim from groups other than one’s own. I am not Sefardi and do not follow Rav Ovadia, but have tremendeous respect for him as a Talmid Chacham. Giving equivalent respect to the great Talmidei Chachamim in the Dati Le’umi community, even when we do not agree with them, would be a wonderful thing too. “Talmidei Chachamim Hevei Marbim Shalom Ba’olam”. The flip side of this Gemara seems to be that one who is not Marbe Shalom can not be considered a true Talmid Chacham. Let’s each do our part to be Marbe Shalom, by relating respectfully to the views of others, even when we disagree.

please do a simple search and see that he said that the first week of January if I thought yeshiva world would allow links I would supply about qo of them
get mad at Rav Ovadia for saying that not for others who just reported it
Instead of this constant drumbeat that the “sky is falling” they are “destroying the yeshivot”and “all bnai torah will have to leave EY”, perhaps Rav Yosef and the litvish gadolim can get together with the new government and finally reach some pragmatic approach whereby kollel yungerleit will be allowed to substitute some form of public service for active military training. It won’t empty the yeshivos, destroy yiddeshkeit or anything like that and might even provide them with some useful work experience while serving the needs of their own schools, hospitals and charities.
To No. 6
Instead of mindlessly defending everything Rav Yosef says without defending its accuracy or logic, perhaps do a simple google search of this and other sites where his comments about kollel yungerleit having to leave EY to evade the draft were widely reported. While Yosef is clearly a talmid chacham with a wide following among Sephardeshe yidden, he also has frequently entered into the political debates and made controversial statements on many geopolitical issues, many of them not well thought out. Stop with this blind defense of everything ANY rav says, especially when their comments delve into public policy issues where there are legitimate differences of opinion.
Peakman,
Maybe you didn’t comprehend what I was writing
My tayneh was on questioning Harav Ovadia shlit”a , the question I posed as to whether he actually said that all bachurim should leave , I wanted to know if he said that. That’s all
#15, I did not get what you meant. Could you elaborate, please?
