SECURITY/DEFENSE:

*Mortar shells and Qassam rockets were fired into the Sderot area over Shabbos. 12 mortar shells were fired and 2 Qassam rockets. There were no reports of injuries or damage.

*A man reported about 50 was found shot in serious condition in his vehicle in Petach Tikvah, on Jerusalem Street near Gordon Street. The motive for the shooting is being investigated.

*Givati Brigade soldiers on Shabbos shot and killed a terrorist in Gaza who hurled a hand grenade at them. No injuries to soldiers.

POLITICS, DOMESTIC & MORE:

*Bnei Brak firefighters fought two blazes over Shabbos, in the basement on Kubliski Street and on Levi Yitzchak Street, in a stairwell. Residents were evacuated in the latter blaze. No injuries reported.

*MK (NRP-National Union) Effie Eitam is calling on police to prohibit Land Day protests Sunday, stating they just serve as a forum for incitement against the army and the nation.

*US Secretary of Condoleezza Rice arrived in Eretz Yisroel motzei Shabbos for a three-day shuttle diplomacy visit.
