Protesters Clash With Police In Brooklyn

nypdrgFor the third night in a row, a candlelight vigil was held for Kimani Gray, the teenager shot and killed by police after he pointed a loaded gun at them in East Flatbush Saturday night. This time however, the situation between the crowd and police grew tense.

The group, which included family and friends, remembered the teen at a vigil at the corner of Church Avenue and East 55th Street.

A large splinter group broke away from the vigil and started marching down Church Avenue towards the 67th precinct stationhouse. Some were chanting “NYPD, KKK.”

Police officers lined the street trying to keep the group on the sidewalk and in order. Many in the group were Occupy Wall Street protestors marching for other causes. Many had cameras and were recording their every step.

The scene grew very tense at Church Avenue and East 54th Street between cops and protestors.

Protestors have converged at that location with police in riot gear standing at the ready.

There have been some clashes between cops and protestors leading to some arrests.
