A firefighter suffered a seizure behind the wheel — sending an FDNY firetruck crashing into several cars parked in Brooklyn on Wednesday evening.
The accident happened just after 6:00PM at East New York Avenue and St. Marks Avenue in Brownsville. FDNY Ladder 120 was heading back to the firehouse on Watkins Street and did not have lights or sirens on at the time.
The truck had been stopped at a traffic light when the driver suffered some sort of seizure. His foot hit the accelerator and the truck veered left, jumping a curb and slamming into a row of parked vehicles with such force, one of them went airborne.
Six firefighters, including the driver, were sent to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center with non-serious injuries, the FDNY said.
Surreal images from the scene show a black Acura SUV sandwiched on top of a white Sedan, with a fire truck rammed into them at an angle.
Police say at least a dozen cars were damaged.
