Temperatures are soaring around Israel this week as the season’s first sharav heat wave is upon us. Temperatures in Yerushalayim on Tuesday reached 93F at 3:20PM. The hot and dry sharav conditions are with us for the coming days, but there will be a slight drop in temperatures on Wednesday, 2 Nissan 5773 when the high is not expected to exceed 77F.
The temperature will climb again on Thursday 3 Nissan and the height of the heat wave is expected to be on Friday, with some forecasters predicting temperatures reaching in the high 90s. Shabbos is expected to drop down to seasonable temperatures, in the 60s, and Sunday’s forecast is an 80% chance of rain and temperatures back in the 50sF.

Not everyone here is American.
I suggest mentioning both C and F values….
Israel and Europe use C only.
what is the difference between a sharav and a chamsin?
I live in Yerusaliyim and it only got up to 85.
#1:
F = 9*(C+40)/5 – 40
C = 5*(F+40)/9 – 40
Do the math.
To #1 –
To convert from F to C, subtract 32, divide by 9, and multiply by 5. 77F is therefore 25C. (77-32=45; 45/9=5; 5*5=25). If you just want to get a general idea, subtract 32 and it’s a bit more than half of what’s left.
