A horrific crash on the Jordan Valley Highway (Route 90) has taken the lives of three Israelis The accident was on Thursday, 9 Marcheshvan, between a bus operated by Egged and a private vehicle. Magen David Adom paramedics and EMTs operated on the scene, and unfortunately, they had to R”L pronounce three people dead on the scene due to their massive injuries.
The three fatalities have been identified as 28-year-old Kfir Avitan, his wife, 28-year-old Shira Avitan, and the couple’s one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Gaya.
Three bus passengers were treated for light injuries.
No details regarding the Levayos have been released.
The crash was roughly 1.8 miles (three kilometers) from Neot Hakikar.
MDA Maor Lahav explained, “When we arrived at the scene, it was shocking. We saw a bus by the side of the road with the passengers standing beside it. Nearby, in a ditch, by the side of the road, we saw a private care upside down, smashed and crushed. Outside, the car was an infant, in critical condition. Two MDA EMTs who were passing by quickly responded and began CPR on the infant. There was a young lady in her 20s outside the vehicle and a male in the driver’s seat, in his 30s. They sustained multisystem trauma. They were in traumatic cardiac arrest. The infant was transferred to a paramedic ambulance and was pronounced dead after resuscitation efforts.”
Police report that Route 90 from Aravah Junction to Zohar estuary was blocked in both direction due to the serious accident. Traffic was rerouted to Routes 31 and 25.
