4 people were hospitalized after a three-car crash on Route 59 in Monsey on Monday afternoon. One person was in serious condition, with a possible leg amputation.
Hatzalah was on scene at around 3:00PM. Eastbound traffic is expected to remain closed between Grandview and Old Nyack Turnpike until 9:30PM.
An eyewitness tells YWN that two cars were in a minor fender bender in the right lane of Route 59 and the drivers were discussing the crash when a Range Rover came up from behind and plowed into the vehicles. The people standing between those vehicle were injured the worst, including one driver whose leg required amputation.
The eyewitness tells YWN the Range Rover may have been drag racing with another vehicle which fled the scene, and was not licensed or registered. The occupants of the Range Ranger got out of the car and fled.
Police have located four suspects, at the nearby Hampton Inn, and they are currently being questioned. It appears some may have been wanted for other crimes.
