Bnei Brak’s Shomrim received a call on Sunday, 28 Tishrei for a stolen electric bicycle, an expensive bike used by an EMT to respond to emergency calls. The bicycle was locked downstairs from the victim’s apartment. The victim reported to the Shomrim that the bike is equipped with GPS.
The Shomrim dispatcher who took the call immediately went into action, and they began efforts to locate the bicycle. Simultaneously, an alert for the stolen bicycle was sent to volunteers out in the field.
Using the GPS, they tracked down the bike in a matter of hours. The apartment of the thief was raided, and the stolen bike was found along with others, some in tact and some having been partially or totally dismantled.
The thieves have been identified as youths from Pardes Katz. They were taken into custody by detectives, who tied them to numerous other bicycle thefts in the city.
The head of Shomrim in Bnei Brak, Chaim Rotter, concluded the case with satisfaction, having apprehended the thieves who are now in custody. He used the opportunity to praise Dan district police for their ongoing cooperation.
