The Breaking the Silence NGO in Israel is scheduled to host this week’s exhibition at the 1:1 Center for Art and Politics in Tel Aviv, entitled “2205 State Crimes,” in which Palestinians murdered in Operation Protective Edge, including many terrorists, will be memorialized.

As part of the “Crimes” exhibition of Santiago Sierra, a work entitled ‘2205 State Crimes’ lists the names of Palestinians killed during the military operation in Gaza in the summer of 2014. The exhibition presents Israel as a war criminal. According to the exhibition, those killed on the Palestinian side are worthy of commemoration, but no mention will be made of the name of an Israeli casualties.

As part of the exhibition, Breaking the Silence will provide the audience with testimonies from some 70 IDF soldiers from the operation, who will talk about the “occupation by remote control” policy practiced in Gaza.

The invitation says: “Those who saw how we fought in Gaza – the artillery towards the neighborhoods, the D9 on the house, and the permissive orders to open fire, know at what price we bought the deterrence”.

Operation Protective Edge was announced following the incessant rocket fire from Gaza towards the civilian population and settlements in southern Israel, which began as a response to the IDF’s Operation Return the Brothers, which followed the kidnapping and murder of Michael Shaar, Naftali Frenkel and Eyal Yifrach in Gush Etzion. During the operation, 68 soldiers and six civilians were killed, and 1,433 soldiers and 837 civilians were injured, none of whom will be mentioned at the exhibition.

Dion Issacharoff, chairman of Breaking the Silence, told the dati leumi Kippa website the organization is only hosting the exhibition and has no connection to the character of the representatives. In a conversation that is going to take place, the testimonies of about 70 soldiers from all the IDF soldiers will be heard, where they will “break the silence” and “tell their difficult experiences from the operation.”
