A Jerusalem police district spokesman reports that criminal indictments have been filed in a Jerusalem court against two men involved in assaulting mispallalim in the Breslov Beis Medrash in Meah Shearim. Police request the two remain under house arrest pending the outcome of the trial against them.
The police involvement began on 14 Tishrei, the first night of Sukkos, at about 7:00PM. Police received a report of a brawl taking place in the Breslov Beis Medrash in Meah Shearim. When police arrived, they saw the suspects involved in the fighting at the location. A number of suspects were taken into custody.
According to the indictment, filed in the Jerusalem Magistrate Court, a 41-year-old man and others assaulted one of the victims with their fists, using all their might as they struck him. The victim sustained facial trauma requiring medical care. Other mispallalim were assaulted as well.
Police for the time being have indicted two suspects to date, with each indictment carrying two counts.
