Following the fire in the laundry facility on Malchei Yisrael Street in Kiryat Gat and after the investigation of the fire by official Shoham Dahorni of the Ashkelon station, it has been determined without a doubt the blaze was caused by burning cigarette butt in the laundry.

Fire officials once again urge the tzibur not to throw cigarettes out of the window and make sure that the cigarettes are completely extinguished and then dumped in the trash can.

In addition, special care should be taken regarding any combustible materials in a laundry room, explained Southern District Fire Department spokesman Eli Cohen.

As seen in the accompanying video, in this case, the cigarette butt led to a major fire in the multi-story residential complex.
