A bank robbery in Williamsburg was thwarted on Friday afternoon due to the quick thinking of the bank teller.
The suspect entered the Apple Bank at 44 Lee Ave and demanded cash. Unbeknownst to him, the teller managed to slip a red dye pack into the money bag. The dye exploded shortly after he exited the bank, prompting him to drop the cash and flee the scene in the direction of Broadway.
The NYPD was on scene conducting a search for the suspect, who may have been connected to other bank robberies.
It was unknown if the suspect displayed a weapon.
He was described as a Hispanic male wearing a red hat and white t-shirt.
