The new counter-terrorism system deployed along the border with southern Israel and Hamas-controlled Gaza will eliminate the need to place soldiers in jeopardy while providing a security response along the hostile border.

The new system incorporates a camera and machinegun, and is monitored and operated from a command center away from the border. This will permit soldiers to monitor the border at all times, as well as directing machinegun fire at hostile elements without the need of placing military personnel at risk.

Officials report the camera is accurate enough to distinguish between civilians and armed terrorists, permitting soldiers to remotely make the decision to activate machinegun fire.

According to the report, the system will reduce the risk factor, but it will not entirely eliminate the need for the infantry presence in the area.
