After a Grad rocket fired from Gaza landed in Ashkelon last week, there was a shooting incident on erev Shabbos 19 Adar 5773 in which a battalion commander’s vehicle was hit with cross-border gunfire. The gunfire hit the patrol vehicle of battalion commander Colonel Ofir Winter. Baruch Hashem there was no injuries. Military officials report there were numerous other incidents in which soldiers were targeted with rocks and firebombs.

After the shooting attack IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz commented “Gaza is Gaza. I am not certain that Gaza is behind us. It is entirely possible that will be dragged into another round of fighting in the future. They have no doubt however just who the strong side is.”
