The security situation in Gaza is on the verge of boiling, security sources told Maariv on Sunday morning, 7 Tishrei. This came in light of the violent confrontations at the end of last week and the attempted attacks along the fence during the past week.
“The chances of progress in the negotiations for regulation are very slight, and the data on the ground shows that we are rapidly approaching an additional security escalation,” the sources said, referring to the state of indirect contacts between Israel and Hamas, which are also based on negotiations for internal Palestinian reconciliation.
At the end of the week, some 13,000 demonstrators demonstrated at the Gaza fence, burning tires, throwing stones and throwing Molotov cocktails at IDF soldiers. There have been numerous attempts to cross the fence and to carry out terror attacks. The IDF on Friday attacked Hamas positions twice, using tanks and aircraft.
Last week, IDF soldiers uncovered two explosive charges that were placed along the fence of southern Gaza under the auspices of demonstrations that took place in the area.

I’m not there to assess. But these reports sound like ho-hum. Another day another series of terror attempts. What’s more serious now?
Hamas wants Israeli blood. All efforts to talk “peace” are futile. They only slow down terror when they get crushed by military. About every 2-3 years.
Israel needs to purchase and field some vehicle-mounted Active Denial Systems at the Gaza border. Non-lethal, but will make the rioters feel as if their skin is on fire until they clear the scene. Better than tear gas which can be adapted to, or equipped with masks against.
