Recent data shows a spike in Prospect Park crimes last year.

Police data reveals that 40 crimes were reported in Prospect Park in 2012, compared to 27 in 2011. Authorities say 26 of the 40 crimes last year were robberies, a jump from eight robberies in 2011.

The Prospect Park Alliance released a memo this week acknowledging the recent spike in crime and assuring the public that there will be added police presence in the park. Members of the Prospect Park Alliance also recommend that park goers remain alert at all times.
