Thousands will be flocking to the Barclays Center this evening to enjoy a historic concert by Cantor Meir Helfgot and violinist Itzhak Perlman. At 7:30 tonight, history will be made as the power of chazzunus and classical music combine to create an extraordinary performance.
Chazzan Helfgot and Itzhak Perlman will be joined on stage by Perlman’s long-time collaborator Hankus Netsky, the Klezmer Conservatory Band, and an 18-Piece Chamber Orchestra with members of The Perlman Music Program, conducted by Russell Ger. The evening’s program will be drawn from the songs of their recent album, Eternal Echoes, and will also include selections from Perlman’s In the Fiddler’s House. Proceeds from the concert, which is presented by Barclays Center developer and majority owner Bruce Ratner, is in support of Met Council on Jewish Poverty and The Perlman Music Program.
Tonight’s concert will also feature Glatt Kosher food, prepared by famed Manhattan restaurant Abigails.
