Israel: Racist Facebook Remarks Get Cop Thrown Off the Force

mishtara1Regarding the reported assault against an Arab woman by an Orthodox Jewish woman at a light rail stop in Jerusalem this week, a policeman on his Facebook page commented “It’s a shame she did not kill her”, costing him his job.

The policeman is a chareidi male in his mandatory service, which he is doing in Israel Police, serving as a “911” dispatcher in Tel Aviv police headquarters. When Police Chief Yochanan Danino heard of the racist comments posted by the cop, he had him thrown off the force.

The report was captured on film by a pedestrian nearby, who told police the woman and those who gathered quickly to assist her shouted racist remarks at the Arab woman, who was defenseless. Police are investigating and have reported that so far, the assault appears to have been prompted by an argument between the two and it is not a hate crime. A final determination will only be made at the end of the investigation.

  1. The world is not a hefker one, there are consequences, Newtons third law states for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. No matter how slices this the goose is cooked.

  2. 1. It’s against halacha to kill people over trivial disputes.

    2. If the person was Hareidi, why didn’t he consult his Rav. Oh, he had been drafted (“volunteer” implies an option, when you have no choice it’s conscription – and for a non-learning hareidi, there is no choice). Or maybe he doesn’t ask shailohs about posting things contrary to halacha on Facebook???

Is that so, akuperma? Perhaps you will kindly tell us if your halacha permits killing people over serious disputes? A ‘mareh makom’ would b helpful – if you can find one, that is.
