As a result of a decision by Communications Minister Moshe Kahlon, the price of a ‘1-800’ or ‘1-801’ telephone call in Israel will be reduced from 31.3 agorot/minute to 7 agorot/minute. The new rate goes into effect 21 days after the minister of communications and finance sign the order.
Kahlon has spearheaded the effort to revamp the cost of communications in Israel, compelling drastic reductions in cellular telephone rates, the cost of smart phones, and he is now looking to target cable and satellite TV providers towards compelling a sharp drop in prices as well. Kahlon added that most consumers believe the 800 number is toll free but the assumption is erroneous, Yisrael Hayom reports.
