Speaking at a media event from Bayit HaYehudi headquarters, party leader Naftali Bennett announced on Tuesday 16 Adar 5773 that during the period of the party’s primary elections, unacceptable activities pertaining to enlisting voters were detected and he ordered an investigation, directed at the vote-getting agents who were allegedly hired. Bennett explained that after the investigation these unacceptable actions were halted and it ensured the primary election was conducted in the proper atmosphere.
Amid allegations that party MK Nissim Slomiansky paid $65,000 to hire two agents who enlisted people to vote for him, police are planning to question a close associate to Slomiansky, Yediot Achronot reports. This is based on somewhat conflicting testimony from Avichai Amrusi, who is one of the people who is believed to have been paid by Slomiansky, allegedly then paying others to support Slomiansky’s candidacy.
After the story broke many appear persuaded regarding the integrity of the facts as they are reported, simply stating there can be no other explanation for the fact that Slomiansky, who represents the party’s old guard, earned the top slot on the lineup.
