During an erev Shabbos shiur, Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef Shlita spoke of the “enemy from within”, those who are working to destroy the Torah world. The rav was speaking about Hilchos Megillah, explaining that in our generation there is more than one Amalek, listing Iran, Hizbullah and the PA (Palestinian Authority).
He warned that with the mounting threats facing Eretz Yisrael, it is time for strengthening limud Torah, not chas v’sholom the opposite.

share the burden: even non religious people should study Torah!
What about achdus among the different factions of the klal? isn’t that as important as limud torah? Both sides need to stop casting accusations at one another and find some common ground.
#2 If only you’d change your name. Almost every post of your is antithetical to Torah and Yiddishkeit.
Doing the correct things is more important than achdus. These reshaim know quite well that 20% of them will ch”v becoming goyim if they join this secular army. Throughout history Jews always wanted to avoid being drafted mainly for this reason.
Common ground is like #1 said -“even non religious people should study Torah!” We’re talking about Eretz Yisrael, the land for JEWS!
#2 Gedolei Torah understand that achdus cannot come at the price of secularizing Jews. Religious Jews have no business joining such an army, whether they’re learning Torah or not, just like they don’t send their children to secular public school. This terrible gezeira has to be fought until the end.
The zionists are an enemy from “within” – That’s where his problem is, he believed the zionists were “one of us” – something they never believed.
“share the burden: even non religious people should study Torah!”
Yes – but the very instant that “even non religious people” feel that they are being compelled to study Torah they will dig their heels in and stop immediately. The whole conception will then collapse irrevocably.
After all, “you do not catch flies with vinegar”. You will not find that in any collation of sayings by hazal; I learned that from my sainted grandmother!
I think its about time they draft those stone throwers rioters on the mlb, I never seen a pitcher called mahmud abdullah, they seem like AAA pitchers…
lazerc (#1), is talmud Torah a burden?
