The Mexican border intrusion is an intrusion by a foreign entity, it is illegal. The children were fed and clothed, given medical attention, and given better living conditions than their parents could provide, even though they, in many instances are criminals, at a higher level than the USA population.
It is a fact that when children are not separated from parents, the number of cases of sexual abuse and death rates climbs. so the kids were better off segregated.

In 2018, if I were to sneak illegally into Mexico, Guatemala, Brazil my wife and children would likely be placed into holding cells (and likely separated based on gender and age- regardless or not)- and it would be fully the fault of our family for doing an illegal action. There are immigration rules and documents regulations in place to follow, and if you have any questions or problems you can hire an attorney or reach out to the State Department. A family separated in the gas chambers of Auschwitz didn’t have the option for an attorney to represent them.
