HaRav Elbaz Questions How The Ashkenazim Can Oust Mayor Abutbul From Beit Shemesh

During an atzeres hisorarus held in Beit Shemesh, HaGaon HaRav Reuven Elbaz, who heads mosdos Ohr HaChaim and serves as a member of Shas’ Moetzas Chachmei HaTorah, addressed the tzibur. He revealed the details of the ‘behind the scenes’ information surrounding the upcoming municipal elections.

The rav explained, “I am familiar with Beit Shemesh for close to 50 years, in the days when it was barely a city. Look at the revolution that my friend Rabbi Moshe Abutbul brought to the city, neighborhoods over neighborhoods, he cares for all the residents, and every time I arrive in the city I am exposed to more beautiful corners, beautiful squares, new streets, gardens and parks.

“He does not only care about shuls and yeshivos” continued the rav in his praise for Mayor Abutbul, adding, “He cares about all the things of the city, and I can’t believe what Beit Shemesh looks like today compared to what it used to look like in the past. It is growth that cannot be compared to another city and still he does not stop, there are thousands of new apartments being built.”

Rav Elbaz added, “Understand, they are trying to grab Beit Shemesh [away],” questioning how persons can try to grab the city away from Abutbul, who has literally built the city. The rav adds he remains confident the “Torah will back him, and he will continue to rise up and succeed in the next elections”.

  1. “how persons can try to grab the city away from Abutbul, who has literally built the city.”

what is he talking about? abutbul isn’t the king

  2. The Mayor has been fantastic for the city of Beit Shemesh.
People always think the grass is greener but as far I am concerned he is a genuine, honest man who really tries to help everyone. You only have to look at the new shopping centre that has been built recently which is great for the city and (for those who say he only cares about Haredim) is used mostly by the secular/traditional resident.

  3. The current mayor has, through his failure of leadership, caused beit shemesh to become a hornets nest of tension between chareidim and everyone else.
The irony is that responsibility for this disaster is shared by the litvish who now seek to stab him in the back.
    They are no better.
