There is a new reality along the Israeli border to Syria, a new outpost along with the growing IDF force manning the border fearing an attempted influx of Syrians seeking refuge in Israel.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz announced on Sunday 7 Adar 5773 that the military remains ready as the fighting continues in Syria. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told reporters at the start of the weekly cabinet meeting the border is fortified and Israel will not permit an infiltration from Syria.
The military has sent letters of explanation to residents of area communities reviewing emergency procedures and the border may soon become an area of conflict.
In the meantime, the seven Syrian wounded in fighting taken to Rebecca Ziv Hospital in Tzfas on Shabbos are recuperating from factures and gunshot wounds under constant guard.
