When mispallalim of the Abir Yaakov Shul on Yitzhak Meir Street arrived on Shabbos morning they realized that a fire had occurred during the night and B’chasdei Hashem, the shul was not damaged, only the kitchen where the fire began. Damage to the kitchen was significant.

There was no damage to shul itself or any of the seforim B”H. The kitchen area however is another story. Damage to that area is reported to be quite extensive. Shul gabbai Ariel Darshan explained to the media that it appears the blanket placed over the food on the “Shabbos palatter” was the cause of the blaze.
